The Primary Schools Plastic Challenge gives schools an opportunity to help children learn about plastic waste and how they can recycle plastics more easily, to care for the environment

The ocean is filled with an estimated 150 million metric tons of plastic. Up to 8 million tons are added every year. It's equivalent to dumping the contents of one rubbish truck into the ocean every minute.

But we could all prevent this much plastic from ever entering the recycling more.

The Primary Schools Plastic Challenge is an ideal activity for a waste-themed week or for World Ocean's Day (8th June 2019).

The Challenge is an ideal activity for a waste-themed week, for World Oceans Day (8th June 2019) or for Feeling Good Week (17th-21st June).

Schools use the Challenge resources to help pupils learn about why we should recycle plastics to care for the environment.

Pupils complete the online Challenge quiz to find out how they can recycle plastics more easily at home.

Pupils invite their families to also find out how they can recycle plastics more easily at home and to pledge to recycle more.

Awards and prizes are available for participating schools and families.
